The Jesko Absolut, from Koenigsegg, could become the fastest production car on the planet, surpassing giants like the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ and the Hennessey Venom F5.

In 2020, Christian Von Koenigsegg, CEO of Koenigsegg, predicted a top speed of 330 mph (approximately 530 km/h) for the Jesko Absolut. Now, Koenigsegg is planning to see if those simulations are indeed accurate.

“I hope we can achieve the record already this year. We are currently looking for a straight stretch that is long enough and where traffic can be stopped, which is not entirely easy. It probably won’t be in Sweden, but abroad,” he told the Swedish site Carup.

It’s worth remembering that in 2017, Koenigsegg had already set the Guinness record for the fastest production car using an Agera RS, with an average speed of 277.9 mph (approximately 447 km/h).

“Our record with the Agera was set with a production car, and the new record attempt will also be achieved with a Jesko produced in series and fully approved for street use,” Koenigsegg added in the interview.

“So far, the actual speed of the car has not been fully explored. The car’s straight-line and power curve simulations show a possible top speed well north of 500 km/h. Now, we want to show what the car is capable of in reality.”
